Harm Reduction Therapy Organizations and Individual Practitioners

The following is a list of all of the harm reduction therapists, organizations, and websites that we are aware of at the time of writing. We know most of these programs, therapists or counselors personally; the others have come recommended by people we know.
Not all of these therapists or programs practice strict harm reduction. Several are “recovery” or abstinence oriented but still work with active users, are not 12-step based and use evidence-based and non-coercive practices. Some call themselves “gradualists”; i.e., they use humane and gradual methods to move someone toward “recovery”. We note such programs with an asterisk (*). In addition, because we do not supervise these therapists, we cannot guarantee that prospective clients would receive the same treatment from the following therapists and programs that we have described in our books and writings. Clients should interview them to determine if they fully practice the principles in our work. A chapter in Over the Influence coaches drug users in the questions to ask a prospective program or therapist.
