"Harm Reduction Psychotherapy - Uncorked"

Tune in and listen to Dr.Denning on HAMS radio show Blog Talk Radio with Kenneth Anderson

"Our first guest is Patt Denning Ph D who will be talking about her new book Practicing Harm Reduction Psychotherapy 2nd Edition, which is a must read for all mental health and substance abuse treatment professionals. This second edition is not merely an update of the first--it is a whole new book."

HRTC Book Release Celebration and Fundraiser a success!

We met and exceeded our fundraising goals and brought a wonderful group of people together for fun and conversation.  Our speaker, Maia Salavitz, presented a compelling argument for harm reduction therapy by talking about tough love in what is known as the “troubled-teen industry”, the world of boot camps and other highly confrontational treatment programs. In Maia’s terms, these programs constitute sanctioned child abuse. In addition to the horrifying deaths (a few dozen to date) in these programs, they strip kids of their dignity and create traumatic experiences that lead to suicide attempts, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, and a fear of treatment in adult life.
