What if drugs aren’t the only problem, or even the main one?

HRTC therapists conduct a comprehensive assessment and are experienced and trained to identify all issues that a person brings to treatment.

We know that many people who develop problems with alcohol or other drugs have experienced trauma in their lives. Physical and sexual abuse, the effects of poverty and racism, and emotional neglect leave people vulnerable to the soothing and exciting effects of alcohol and drugs.

People bring other concerns to therapy. Even if you have already quit using, your job or relationships may need to be tended to. Or you may have a chronic medical condition that is difficult to cope with.

Our therapists works with each client to develop an individualized plan that addresses issues according to each client’s priorities, your own "hierarchy of needs".
